Social Design Strategy Community Planning

Interaction Design is a powerful tool to guide and voice sentiments in local communities when it comes to quality of domestic environments. By structuring topics and providing visual guidelines, community members are encouraged to contribute and generate ideas, while also actively documenting them for data analysis.

In collaboration with Início - Office for Urban Social Planning, an in-person, interactive Scenario-Planning system was developed to discuss multiple fictional scenarios and their impact on urban areas .

Under the presented social-economic scenarios, teamed-up local residents / community members first identify and 'score' priorities per department, and distribute budgets.

Multiple 'departments' then review and debate the available budget during 15-minute sessions and file results into their 'District Directive Document'.

Outcomes, now quantified and visualised, represent topics and per scenario, which can be discussed and shared with local policy makers.
